| Joan
Miró is one of the twentieth-century artists with the most extensive
bibliography; the large number of biographies, monographs and catalogues
published, particularly since the forties, have helped to make both the
artist and his work better known to a wider public.
We
now present a approach to his work in the form of the multi-directional
readings offered by CD-ROM.
The
title, Joan Miró. The colour of dreams, is a kind of metaphor
for his open attitude to new forms of expression, by exploring different
art forms and techniques as well as specific aspects such as matter, signs,
gesture and, of course, colour.
But
it also highlights his desire to enter unknown territory and to extend
beyond the safety of creative inertia.
A selection
of notes, comments and statements by Miró reveals the doubts, ideas
and passions that lay at the heart of his oeuvre.
A large
selection of pictures with explanatory notes enables the user to follow
the development of one of the most important and influential artists of
the twentieth century.
This
is supplemented by a chronology, a glossary of artists and movements connected
with Miró, an anthology of quotes from the artist, a bibliography,
and finally a set of games and animations that provide a more recreational
approach to his work.
Miró
once said: "In my opinion, mastering freedom means mastering simplicity.
Then, at most, a line, a colour, are enough to make the picture."
During
his life he made other remarks of a similarly simple nature, filled with
common sense but nevertheless the result of considerable prior reflection.
To
grasp the profound reasoning behind his thinking it is essential to contemplate
the overall complexity of an entire life dedicated to art.
This
is just the purpose of the interactive. |
